1930s Flavored Sealed Ham Ad

This new method of canning went through many experimental phases, but was finally ready for production after a German canning expert was invited to Hormel headquarters in Austin, MN.  The first Hormel® Flavor Sealed hams were individually hand-soldered to keep the meat fresh.  Once the canning method was mastered, these hams lead to a wider audience for Hormel products, a need for a larger and more mobile sales force and for the largest marketing campaign of the company's history.
