Grilling Favorites Get a Healthy Makeover This Summer

Jennie-O Turkey Store Makes a Splash with Tastier Turkey Franks and New Fully-Cooked Bratwursts

WILLMAR, MINN. – Summertime brings plenty of sun, family fun and, of course, cookouts. This year, Jennie-O Turkey Store is making a splash by rolling out two delicious, healthier versions of American grilling favorites: new fully-cooked turkey bratwursts and improved turkey hot dogs made with 100 percent premium turkey meat.

Jennie-O Turkey Store is introducing the first fully-cooked turkey bratwursts, making it even more convenient to enjoy the straight-from-the-grill flavor in minutes. The brats contain 50 percent less fat than cooked pork bratwurst and just under half the calories*. Available in three delicious varieties: smoked bratwurst, beer bratwurst and real cheddar bratwurst, each brat has the authentic taste and texture people crave.

Sure to be a barbecue and tailgate favorite, JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® Fully-Cooked Beer Bratwursts are the only 100 percent turkey beer bratwurst in the category, made with Leinenkugel’s® award-winning Sunset Wheat beer.

New JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® Scooby-Doo™ Turkey Franks will debut this month, which is also National Hot Dog Month, and offer a new and improved consumer-tested and approved taste and texture. The kid favorite is now a great option for parents concerned about nutrition and childhood obesity, with 30 percent less fat than beef franks** and no trans fats, by-products, artificial colors or flavors.

Packaging for the franks will now feature Scooby-Doo™, one of the best-loved and most recognized animated characters in U.S. history, as well as alternating on-pack premiums. Peel-off toys include mini mystery comic books, stickers, tattoos and interactive games.

“Research shows that more than 70 percent of adults want to cut down on the fat in their family’s diet,” said Kim Anderson, product manager for Jennie-O Turkey Store. “These new products offer a great tasting, but significantly lower fat alternative for those who want to eat healthier but still enjoy hot dogs and bratwurst.”

Both JENNIE-O TURKEY STORE® Fully-Cooked Turkey Bratwursts will hit store shelves this month. Products will be available in limited distribution in select markets across the United States.
