Chili Cheese Bacon Brat

TOTAL TIME: 45 minutes


8 strips Hormel® Black Label® jalapeno bacon
8 fully cooked cheddar brats
8 pretzel hot dog buns, split and toasted
Mustard Cheese Sauce                                                  
1 (15-ounce) can Hormel® Chili No Beans, heated
1 cup sautéed onions                                                      

Mustard Cheese Sauce
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon dry mustard 
1 teaspoon salt                                                                   
1 teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon granulated garlic
2 cups half-and-half
2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
¼ cup heavy cream


Cook bacon until slightly cooked but not crispy. Wrap bacon tightly around brats, tucking in ends.

Make Mustard Cheese Sauce: In medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add flour; stir in dry mustard, salt, pepper and garlic. Add half-and-half; bring to simmer and stir 4 to 5 minutes or until beginning to thicken.  Add cheese and cream, stirring to melt. Keep warm.

Heat grill to 350°F. Spray grill with non-stick cooking spray. Place bacon wrapped brats on grill and cook 5 to 7 minutes each side or until bacon is fully cooked and crisped. 

Serve on toasted buns with Mustard Cheese Sauce, chili and onions.
