Canadian Bacon Croque Madame

INGREDIENTS


  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 4 slices white sandwich bread
  • 6 ounces HORMEL® BLACK LABEL® Canadian bacon slices
  • 1 ½ tablespoons country Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup grated Gruyre cheese, divided
  • ½ cup Alfredo sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 eggs, cooked sunny-side up or over easy 

DIRECTIONS


Heat broiler. Heat large ovenproof skillet over medium-high heat. Butter each bread slice on 1 side.  Top with 5 slices Canadian bacon and Dijon mustard. Top with ½ cup cheese and cover with remaining bread slices, butter side up. Place sandwiches in skillet, pressing gently with back of spatula. Cook on each side about 1 to 2 minutes or until lightly golden.
Top sandwiches in skillet with Alfredo sauce and sprinkle with nutmeg. Add remaining ½ cup cheese. Place skillet in oven and broil 2 to 3 minutes or until golden and bubbly. Top with egg.
